155 EDUCATIONAL GRANTS FOR STUDYING IN CHINESE UNIVERSITIES

Document submission will be conducted from December 25, 2023, to January 31, 2024, inclusive, through the «Electronic Government» portal (Egov.kz).

According to the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China dated June 3, 2003, the Chinese government is offering 155 educational grants for the 2024-2025 academic year under the Chinese government scholarship programs in the following areas:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Master's degree;
  • Doctoral degree.

Important!!! Candidates currently enrolled in educational programs must provide a notarized certificate of graduation status from their school (college, university), indicating the expected graduation date, certified by the academic office and translated into Chinese or English.

Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Candidates for bachelor's programs must have a secondary education certificate and be under 25 years old;
  • Candidates for master's programs must have a bachelor's degree and be under 35 years old;
  • Candidates for doctoral programs must have a master's degree and be under 40 years old.

The grant covers the following expenses:

  • Free tuition;
  • Monthly stipend: 2,500 CNY for bachelor's programs, 3,000 CNY for master's programs, 3,500 CNY for doctoral programs;
  • Health insurance;
  • Accommodation in a dormitory.

Important!!! All other expenses must be covered by the grant recipient.

Document submission will be conducted from December 25, 2023, to January 31, 2024, inclusive, through the «Electronic Government» portal (Egov.kz). To submit documents through the «Electronic Government» portal, an EDS (Electronic Digital Signature) is required, which can be obtained remotely. Instructions for obtaining an EDS online (remotely) are available here: https://egov.kz/cms/ru/services/pass_onlineecp. If you encounter difficulties in obtaining electronic services, you can contact the virtual operator via the previous link or use the free contact center by calling 1414.

After obtaining the EDS, you must submit your documents through Egov.kz.

The selection of candidates for studying abroad is conducted through the following stages:

  1. Personal interview with the independent expert commission members, including online interviews.
  2. Review of candidates' materials and decision-making by the Final Commission.

The main criteria for selecting candidates are:

  1. Foreign language proficiency level according to a scoring system;
  2. Average grade of the educational document according to a scoring system;
  3. Assessment by the Independent Expert Commission.

According to clause 17 of the Rules, in the selection of candidates for studying abroad within the framework of international agreements, in case of equal scores, priority is given (in the following order) to:

  1. Orphans and children left without parental care;
  2. Individuals with disabilities since childhood and disabled children, for whom, according to medical conclusions, education in the corresponding foreign educational organizations is not contraindicated, provided they submit a medical certificate (for those traveling abroad) in the form No. 072/u, approved by the acting Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan on October 30, 2020, No. ҚР ДСМ-175/2020 «On approval of forms of accounting documentation in the field of healthcare» (registered in the State Registration Register of Regulatory Legal Acts under No. 21579);
  3. Children from large families;
  4. Candidates from rural areas who have lived in rural areas for the last two (2) years;
  5. Candidates with invitations from foreign HEIs, as well as those studying in foreign HEIs.
  6. Following the competitive selection process, the lists of recommended candidates will be forwarded to the host country.

According to subparagraph 4) of clause 21, winners of the competition are required to return to the Republic of Kazakhstan after completing their academic training abroad and to engage in continuous employment for a period of one (1) year.
