250 EDUCATIONAL GRANTS FOR STUDYING IN HUNGARY

For the 2025-2026 academic year, 250 educational grants are being offered under the Stipendium Hungaricum program, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. The grants are distributed as follows:

  • Bachelor’s program: 110 slots
  • Master’s program: 90 slots
  • Combined Bachelor’s and Master’s program: 30 slots

Recipients of grants in the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and combined programs are required to complete a Hungarian language course during their first academic year, provided by the host university. An examination must be passed at the end of the second semester (with exceptions for those studying in Hungarian). Scholarship holders who do not attend the language course will not be eligible to receive the full monthly stipend.

The Grant Covers:

  • Tuition fees: Full coverage

  • Monthly stipend: Bachelor’s and Master’s programs: HUF 43,700. Doctoral program: HUF 140,000 for the first four semesters and HUF 180,000 for the last four semesters.

  • Accommodation: Dormitory housing or a monthly housing allowance of approximately HUF 40,000

  • Medical insurance

Note: Any additional expenses are the responsibility of the grant holder.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applications will not be accepted from candidates born after August 31, 2007 (applicants must be at least 18 years old by August 31, 2025), except for those applying for the “Dance Study” specialization.

Important: Online registration must be completed at apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu by January 15, 2025.

Acceptance of documents will be carried out from November 25, 2024 to January 17, 2025 inclusive through the portal “Electronic Government” (Egov.kz) https://egov.kz/cms/ru/services/higher_education/pass_203_mon. To submit documents through the e-Government portal, you need an EDS, which can be obtained remotely. To read the instructions for obtaining an EDS online (remotely), follow the link https://egov.kz/cms/ru/services/pass_onlineecp. If you have any difficulties in obtaining electronic services, you can contact the virtual operator using the previous link or use a free call to the Contact Center at 1414.

Applicants are selected to study abroad by going through the following rounds:

  • Conducting personal interviews of applicants with members of the independent expert commission, including online.
  • Consideration of applicants' materials and decision-making by the Final Commission.

The main criteria for the selection of applicants are:

  • level of knowledge of a foreign language according to the ball system;
  • average score of the document on education according to the ball system;
  • evaluation of the Independent Expert Commission.

According to p. 17 of the Rules, when selecting applicants for study abroad within the framework of international treaties/agreements, in case of equal scores, the advantage shall be (in the following sequence):

  1. orphans and children left without parental care;
  2. disabled persons from childhood and disabled children, who according to the medical report are not contraindicated to study in the relevant foreign educational organizations, who have submitted a medical certificate (for going abroad) according to the form No. 072/u, approved by the order of the Acting Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan from October 30, 2020, No. KR DSM-175/2020 “On approval of the forms of accounting documentation in the field of health care” (registered in the Register of state registration of normative legal acts under No. 21579);
  3. children from large families;
  4. applicants from rural settlements who have lived in rural settlements for the last 2 (two) years;
  5. applicants who have an invitation from foreign HEIs, as well as those studying in foreign HEIs.

Based on the results of the selection process, lists of recommended applicants will be sent to the receiving party, who will make the final decision.

According to subparagraph 4) of paragraph 21 provides for the mandatory return of the winner of the competition to the Republic of Kazakhstan after the completion of academic study abroad and the implementation of continuous labor activity with a period of 1 (one) year.
