A meeting was held in Atyrau between representatives of JSC «Center for International Programs» and LLP «Atyrau Oil Refinery» (AOR), during which a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed. This step is aimed at strengthening the partnership in the training, retraining, and qualification upgrading of personnel to meet international standards.
From LLP «Atyrau Oil Refinery», the meeting was attended by General Director and Chairman of the Board Galymzhan Zhussanbayev, as well as Deputy General Director for General Affairs Salimzhan Nakpayev. JSC «Center for International Programs» was represented by Chairwoman of the Board Aliya Ospanova.
The Center for International Programs places special emphasis on the training of specialists in engineering, the oil and gas industry, and other key technical fields that are of strategic importance to Kazakhstan. As part of the cooperation with AOR, participants in the Bolashak program have the opportunity to undergo professional internships and scientific internships through the «500 visiting scholars» program, as well as retraining at leading global universities such as Imperial College London (UK), Stanford University (USA), University of Texas at Austin (USA), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (Norway), and University of Calgary (Canada).
These universities are renowned for their advanced expertise in training specialists in the oil and gas sectors, and cooperation with them opens new horizons for Kazakhstani students and professionals. As part of the memorandum, the Center for International Programs will also develop a special mechanism for curatorial support for refinery specialists, including mentoring and guidance.
The meeting also touched on the topic of reducing gasoline and diesel fuel prices. AOR representatives noted that by increasing the efficiency of oil refining and implementing new technologies, it is possible not only to stabilize but also to significantly reduce fuel costs. This will have a positive impact on the country's economy. However, to achieve such results, it is crucial to upgrade the qualifications of personnel and ensure their training at leading global centers to stay abreast of the latest technological advancements.
Chairwoman of the Board of the Center for International Programs, Aliya Ospanova, presented the Center's projects, such as master's programs, doctoral studies, professional internships, and intergovernmental grants under the Bolashak program, as well as scientific internships through the «500 visiting scholars» program. She emphasized: «In the face of global challenges, where competencies are developed daily, and new technologies emerge hourly, it is very important to raise the level of professionalism of personnel and timely implement new solutions. This not only affects production efficiency but also the country's economy as a whole».
The General Director of the refinery and Chairman of the Board, Galymzhan Zhussanbayev, noted: «The study and implementation of international experience are essential for the development of the oil refining sector. The internship will allow our specialists to gain invaluable experience from foreign colleagues, adopt advanced technologies, and apply them at the refinery».
The signing of the Memorandum highlighted the significance of joint efforts in the training of engineering and technical personnel, which aligns with Kazakhstan's strategic interests and contributes to the development of its key industries.
