During recent working meetings between the Chairwoman of the Board of the Center for International Programs, Aliya Ospanova, and representatives of leading universities in the UK and the USA, important agreements were reached. Universities will now offer direct tuition discounts of up to 30% for Bolashak scholarship holders and research interns, significantly reducing the government’s education costs and increasing the accessibility of foreign education.
"During negotiations with the leadership of top universities in the UK, and earlier with American universities, we agreed to provide direct tuition discounts for our Bolashak scholars, as well as for research interns and language course participants. This agreement not only improves conditions for our students but also leads to significant savings in government funds. For example, this year, thanks to tuition discounts ranging from 10% to 30% provided to over 100 students, nearly 250 million tenge was saved. Currently, more than 20 universities in the US and UK offer direct tuition discounts to our scholarship holders, and the list of universities with such agreements continues to grow," noted Aliya Ospanova, Chairwoman of the Board of the Center for International Programs.
These agreements highlight the high level of trust and recognition that Kazakhstani scholars have earned abroad through their academic achievements and potential in scientific research. Many British and American universities have been cooperating with the Center for International Programs for many years, highly valuing the level of preparation and motivation of our students in their pursuit of knowledge and participation in scientific research.
During her visit to the UK, Aliya Ospanova held meetings with representatives of several leading universities, including the University of Warwick, the University of Manchester, the University of Reading, among others. In the US, negotiations were held with the University of Minnesota, Boston University, and others, where these significant agreements were reached.
In addition to offering direct discounts, the universities and their research centers expressed their willingness to provide access to their research resources, continuously improve accommodation conditions in student dormitories, and offer the best possible adaptation support and practical experience opportunities. This opens new horizons for the scientific endeavors of Kazakhstani students and researchers.
The Chairwoman also met with current Bolashak scholarship holders and research interns to discuss the new changes and improvements to the program. The scholars, in turn, supported the ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing the objectivity and transparency of the selection process, as well as simplifying document submission and contract processes through the introduction of digital technologies.
