FORUM OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND SCIENCE - 2023

Within the framework of the Forum of Higher Education and Science – 2023, Olzhas Sakenov, CIP Chairman of the Board made a report on the importance of implementing Split-programs to ensure the transfer of advanced knowledge in order to develop existing and create new scientific directions in Kazakhstan.

Sakenov noted that the phased introduction of the Split PhD model into the educational system of Kazakhstan on the basis of the Bolashak international scholarship will accelerate the training of scientific personnel in Kazakhstan. The Bolashak program sets new tasks for itself and focuses on improving the Kazakhstani component in development within the framework of the Split PhD.

To date, 157 people are studying under the doctoral program at the following universities:

  • University of Cambridge
  • Imperial College London
  • University of Warwick
  • McGill University et al.

The first stage involves the preparation of doctoral students according to the scheme: three years of study at a basic university, one year for conducting experimental and research activities at a Kazakhstani university. The second stage will be integrated into the educational process of interested Kazakhstani universities and involves the scholarship holder's training in two higher educational institutions, in a basic foreign university and a Kazakh partner university under the "2 +2" scheme, followed by the issuance of diplomas from two universities.
