Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, this day aims to ensure full and equal access to science for women and girls and their participation in the field. It serves as a reminder of the vital role women and girls play in the scientific and technological communities.
In 2022, President K. Tokayev initiated the "500 Scientists" program to support scientific internships. From its inception, the program has garnered significant attention among female scientists, who are currently undertaking internships in leading laboratories and research centers around the world. The Bolashak international scholarship and the "500 Scientists" program contribute significantly to advancing women in science. After completing their training and internships, these female scientists develop innovative projects and achieve significant results in their research.
Notably, just five days ago, prominent Kazakh biologist Kunsulu Zakarya was listed among the world's top women contributing to vaccination development. Additionally, in January 2024, Kunsulu Zakarya was appointed as a scientific and technological advisor to the President of Kazakhstan.
