By the decision of the Republican Commission on Training Personnel Abroad, 150 Kazakh citizens have been awarded the international «Bolashak» scholarship.
As a result of the second round of awards, 120 individuals will pursue master's degree programs, 6 will undertake doctoral studies, and 24 Kazakh citizens will be sent on professional internships to leading universities and production centers around the world.
Special attention was given to priority training areas, with more than two-thirds of the scholarships allocated to natural and technical sciences. Under the preferential categories, 22 individuals will study abroad.
The applicants for the «Bolashak» scholarship have been admitted to universities that are ranked among the top in global educational rankings, such as Harvard University, Imperial College London, University of Pennsylvania, University of Melbourne, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Bristol, and others. The most popular specializations include information technologies and systems, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, transportation technologies and logistics, public health, neonatology and surgery, big data analytics, civil engineering, geology and mining, metallurgy, financial technologies, urban studies, and mathematics.
The Center places special emphasis on the rigorous competitive selection of candidates to ensure the high quality of specialist training that meets global standards.
«In the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the necessity of ensuring quality selection for scientific internships is emphasized. The competitive selection process has been revised, and the requirements for candidates have been strengthened. A separate department for supporting scientists has been established at the Center for International Programs, which facilitates the establishment of contacts and the acquisition of complimentary invitations from leading global scientific centers for preferential categories. These measures enable us to assist scientists more effectively within the framework of the strategic project for supporting science and research,» emphasized Aliya Ospanova, Chairwoman of the Board of JSC «Center for International Programs».
Additionally, 33 Kazakh citizens have been awarded grants for scientific internships in the most significant areas for the economy at leading global scientific and research centers. The candidates received invitations for scientific internships at such leading universities and organizations as: University of Oxford, King’s College London, University of California, Davis, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, CNRS, University of Sussex, Technische Universität Dresden, and others. The most popular fields include engineering and technology, social and natural sciences, as well as medicine and healthcare.
