By the decision of the Republican Commission for Training Personnel Abroad, 184 Kazakh citizens have been awarded the international "Bolashak" scholarship.
As a result of the first award, 138 people will study in master's programs, 13 in doctoral programs, and 33 Kazakh citizens will undertake internships at leading universities and industrial centers around the world.
The selection focused on specialists in engineering-technical and medical fields. Training will be conducted in 62 specialties.
This year's list of priority specialties was formed based on the requests of government bodies for training personnel in necessary professions. Preferential categories are available for candidates from rural areas, engineering-technical workers, and medical professionals. They can undergo language training for up to 12 months before starting their studies and are not required to have a university invitation when applying for the scholarship.
"The record number of applications submitted this year highlighted the high level of competition in the selection process. In the future, we plan to improve the selection rules and digitize the entire document processing system. The introduction of selection stages and changes in the type of testing are expected," said Alia Ospanova, Chairwoman of the Board of JSC "Center for International Programs."
The candidates were admitted to universities that are ranked among the top in the world, such as Harvard University, Stanford University, National University of Singapore, University of Pennsylvania, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The most popular specialties include "Information Technology and Systems," "Big Data Analytics," "Transport Technologies," "Public Health," "Chemical Engineering," "Civil Engineering," "International Law and Security," "Intellectual Property," and "Ecology."
