MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE BEIJING GENOMICS INSTITUTE

A meeting with a delegation of the scientific and medical company Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) was held at the office of the Center for International Programs. The delegation included Pavel Natalin (Business Development Manager), Evgeny Falchuk (Regional Sales Manager), and Zhong Yuming (Project Manager).

Aliya Ospanova, Chairwoman of the Board, welcomed the guests and highlighted their existing programs: Bolashak International Scholarship, "500 visiting scholars" scientific internships, intergovernmental grants, and the Study in KZ program.

Representatives of BGI also spoke in detail about their activities and achievements. Beijing Genomics Institute is a leading company in the Asia-Pacific region and is in the TOP 10 in the world ranking. The company was founded in 1999 to participate, on the part of China, in the Human Genome decoding project and in 23 years has transformed into an international holding company BGI Group, combining commercial and non-profit organizations working in the field of genomics and agriculture.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of scientific internships and academic training.

The following agreements were reached:

  1. Internship and Training Opportunities: Kazakh students and specialists will have the chance to intern and train in BGI labs and educational institutions, gaining expertise in agriculture and genomics.

  2. Graduate Employment: Upon establishment of BGI laboratories in Kazakhstan, graduates can pursue careers there, contributing to the advancement of scientific research and technology within the country.

Cooperation with BGI opens up broad prospects for the development of science, education and the economy of Kazakhstan.

For reference: The BGI Group includes research institutes, educational institutions, as well as commercial units dealing with clinical solutions, personalized medicine and agricultural technologies.

BGI has opened more than 100 joint laboratories, medical centers and production facilities in more than 30 countries around the world, being both a technology partner and an investor.
