MEETING WITH WORLD BANK REPRESENTATIVES

Today, the Center for International Programs JSC hosted a meeting with a delegation from the World Bank, led by Project Group Head Hussein Abdul-Hamid and Senior Education Specialist Laura McDonald.

The meeting focused on the successful completion of the World Bank’s «Modernization of Secondary Education» project and explored opportunities for strengthening the partnership with the Center for International Programs. The Center’s representatives welcomed the guests and expressed their enthusiasm for continued productive collaboration across various fields.

Key topics of discussion included the Bolashak program, scientific internships «500 visiting scholars», and the Study in Kazakhstan program, as well as the potential for internships at the World Bank.

Additionally, the World Bank team shared their plans to deepen engagement in higher education, which includes:

  • Initiating activities for Academic Excellence Centers as part of the forthcoming Joint Economic Research Program, expected to be signed soon.
  • Consulting with the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan on critical components of university support for the Science and Technology Development Project.
  • Reviewing a draft program aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Kazakhstani universities, currently under Government consideration.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on future cooperation plans, emphasizing the continuation of joint projects, expanding areas of collaboration, and strengthening partnerships to advance education and science.
