MEMORANDUM WITH FIABCI: BOLASHAK TRAINS ENGINEERS FOR THE TRANSITION TO CARBON NEUTRALITY IN CONSTRUCTION

Today, the Chairwoman of the Board of the Center for International Programs, Aliya Ospanova, signed a memorandum with Aliya Serikpayeva, co-founder and Secretary General of FIABCI - Central Asia, the International Federation of Real Estate Professionals (FIABCI). This collaboration opens new opportunities for training Kazakhstani specialists in the fields of sustainable construction and urban planning. This initiative is aimed at fulfilling the orders of the President of Kazakhstan to create environmentally friendly and energy-efficient cities, as well as to achieve carbon neutrality.

The Chairwoman of the Board of the Center for International Programs, Aliya Ospanova, emphasized the significance of this event:

"Today, it is an honor for me to present the Bolashak Presidential Scholarship Program, which has trained more than 13,000 professionals at the world's best universities and research centers since 1993. These talented citizens have returned to their homeland to contribute to the development of Kazakhstan. I am proud that Aliya Serikpayeva, President of FIABCI Central Asia, is a shining example of a graduate of our program."

Special attention was paid to the issues of environmentally sustainable construction:

"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has declared that Kazakhstan will achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. This is a huge task, especially for the construction sector, which accounts for 40% of carbon emissions. We face two main challenges: how to build new types of buildings and what to do with existing ones that pollute the environment. These issues are critically important to us, and we strive to train engineers and construction specialists through the Bolashak program to address these problems and create the buildings of the future."

The collaboration with FIABCI will allow Kazakhstani specialists to gain access to the world's leading practices in areas such as urban planning, architecture, sustainable cities, smart city systems, construction engineering, design and construction, urban agglomeration management, and water resource management in construction.

As part of this partnership, Kazakhstani specialists will be able to study in academic programs (master's and doctoral degrees), as well as undergo professional internships and scientific training.

FIABCI is the largest international organization bringing together real estate professionals. Founded in the mid-1940s in Paris, FIABCI has 47 offices worldwide and more than a million participants in over 90 countries. FIABCI also holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The signing of this memorandum is another step toward fulfilling the national objectives of transitioning to a "green" economy and achieving carbon neutrality.
