Sabira Dzhunusova is from Zhitikara, studied for several years at Rudnenskaya school No. 19. In 2010, she entered the Akhmet Baitursynov KRU with a degree in History, graduating as a master's student in 2016. For the fourth year, she has been teaching modern history of Kazakhstan and social subjects at the Rudny Industrial Institute, simultaneously serving as Deputy Dean of the Higher School of Metallurgy and Mining.

From September 1 to November 30, the young teacher completed the internship within the framework of the «500 visiting scholars» program. This is an internship at leading higher education institutions, leading scientific organizations around the world. Sabira was the only one who chose an internship at the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin (UrFU) for a period of three months.

– Why did you choose UrFA?

– This university is one of the largest federal universities in Russia. He has one of the oldest departments of history, – said the lecturer of the RIA. – He is also geographically closely connected with Kazakhstan. I study industrial history, so I wanted to get acquainted with the archives of the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions in order to enter doctoral studies later and find a topic for future research. And during a three-month internship, I met colleagues from UrFU. To this day, I continue to work with them, we do some work together. Now we are planning a scientific article on the topic: «The history of industry in the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan». The topic of my research is «The evolution of the international industrial partnership of enterprises of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk regions of the Russian Federation, as well as the Kostanay region». We will continue to work on this topic in the future.

During the internship, I learned how to work with digital data. Since we had subjects in digital history when I was studying.

I was also introduced to one of the largest libraries in the Sverdlovsk region, the Belinsky Library.

She participated in three All-Russian forums, and managed to participate in one of the major historical conferences related to the 300th anniversary of Yekaterinburg and Perm.

Sabira Dzhunusova also participated in an online conference in Perm, attended many professional development courses related to her specialty, worked in the library of the Ural Federal University. And she proudly told about how lucky she was to go on an excursion to the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

– I was personally given a tour of this large scientific organization. She also attended the forum of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

I would really like to thank the leadership of UrFU, including my supervisor, and the institute where I did my internship, the Ural Humanitarian Institute. I had a very experienced and interesting leader, Alexander Sergeevich Burnasov. He often helped me, led me on a scientific internship, thanks to him I learned about new data, met many scientists from the Ural region, and in the future we plan to cooperate in the scientific field.

– Is it easy to become a member of the 500 visiting scholars program?

– This is my second attempt to participate in the program. Recruitment for the program turned out to be not very easy, because we submitted a package of documents related to scientific activities. This package included my scientific publications, it was necessary to confirm a year of continuous work experience, a year of pension contributions, as well as a document from my direct management that I would continue to work at the institute. This was the first stage. The first time I did not pass it, there were problems with the documents. In order to participate in this program, you need to know the language of the country where you are going. If they go to England or France, they take tests on their knowledge of the relevant language. It was easier for me. I know Russian, so I didn't take the test. But they also asked for knowledge of the Kazakh language. I passed this test because I teach in Kazakh. The second stage was more difficult – testing in mathematical analysis and logic. The third stage was psychological testing. After that, we had an interview where they asked me why I needed this scientific internship. She replied that Rudnensk is an industrial city. And I would like to study the history of industry. And Yekaterinburg is one of the largest industrial cities in Russia, one of the oldest cities, famous for its Ural craftsmen. I saw confirmation of this in museums. The internship will help my work at the Rudnensky Industrial Institute. Because now we are educating future miners, metallurgists, power engineers, who should know not only their specialty, but also the history of their specialty in Kazakhstan, the history of industry in general. To do this, I would like to use the materials that I found in the archives in the lessons so that students learn more about their specialty.

– How and how long was the internship?

– The internship took place for three months, from September 1 to November 30. The first month was relatively the easiest. I got acquainted with the internship, met with my supervisor, agreed on publication plans, on telepublications. We also made a small schedule of what events I want and can participate in. Later, in October-November, she directly participated in the events. She also participated in many seminars and lectures held at UrFU. Since this is a large university, they have a very large scientific base, and I was lucky enough to get acquainted not only with historical data, but also to visit other laboratories.

– What did you get from the internship?

– Upon graduation, I was given a certificate stating that I had completed a scientific internship in my specialty. This internship gives me the opportunity to collect materials for my future doctoral degree. Since I plan to enter doctoral studies in a year or two. I was the only one in UrFU from Kazakhstan. Most choose Japan, England, France. And I was interested in what would help me in the future. I'm a historian. I am interested in local history. And I can use the materials I received in the lessons. I met very famous people, those who deal with history. I realized that I needed to hurry up, look for more data in the archives. In Sverdlovsk, in Chelyabinsk, there are a lot of interesting materials on the Kostanay region, namely on the city of Rudny. Perhaps in the future I will work with the archives of Magnitogorsk. There is also a lot of data about our city.

– Was this trip paid?

– Absolutely free. I didn't pay for anything. Bolashak paid me the road and monthly scholarships – $ 1,000. I'm not talking about what I eat and how to live. This scholarship allowed me to fully engage in science and visit many organizations. This is a good incentive for my colleagues to participate in this program too. Just one of them is now also going to go to UrFU under the same program. Many people live in a hostel. I lived in a hostel because I had the right to choose. But I couldn't come home, that's one of the disadvantages. Tickets are paid for by the state.

Any citizen of Kazakhstan can participate in the program, if they have an academic degree of Doctor of Sciences, Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), doctor in profile or master's degree. Have the experience of continuous actual work for the last 12 months in the chosen field of specialization of scientific research in accredited subjects of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities that are legal entities. Also, there is an unconditional invitation (except for financial conditions) from a foreign organization included in the list that accepts an applicant for a scientific internship in accordance with the ongoing scientific research. A prerequisite is knowledge of the state and foreign languages at the level corresponding to the requirements established by the working body. And the last condition is the availability of scientific results (articles or reviews indexed in the international databases Web of Science, Scopus or in domestic or foreign scientific publications recommended by the authorized body exercising control functions in the field of higher education and science and (or) the international PCT application (Patent Cooperation Treaty)).

– Since this is a neighboring country, it was much easier for me than for others, I know Russian. And the leadership of the Ural Federal University greeted me very warmly, immediately introduced me to all the teachers, conducted tours of the classrooms. Since I am the first one who participated in the Bolashak scientific internship at their university. And this program has been in effect for only two years. Therefore, it was interesting for them to participate in it themselves.

My goal in science is to enroll in doctoral studies, but I want to continue working at RII, as I like working here, teaching history to students. I will improve my qualifications and the level of scientific knowledge», said Sabira Dzhunusova, Master's degree, lecturer at the Department of IISGD, Deputy Dean for UVIR of the Mining and Metallurgical Faculty.
