In 2024, for the first time, the application period for the international «Bolashak» scholarship and the «500 Visiting Scholars» research internships will be continuous. The application period is scheduled to begin on April 29 and end on October 25.
The competitive selection will take place from May 10 to November 30, 2024. Applications for the «Bolashak» scholarship can be submitted through the portal egov.kz. Applications and competitive selection for «500 visiting scholars» will, for the first time, be conducted online in the «Applicant's Personal Account» section on the portal bolashak.gov.kz. Priority in training abroad is given to engineering, technical, and medical specialties.
In 2024, 555 scholarships are allocated for the «Bolashak» program. Of these, 395 scholarships are designated for master's and residency programs, 50 scholarships for doctoral programs, and 110 scholarships for internships.
The list of priority specialties is formed based on requests from central and local government agencies, short-term and long-term strategies, and development plans. Candidates can receive training abroad in relevant fields such as water security and drainage, agroforestry, construction, agriculture, artificial intelligence, molecular genetics, and more. The «Bolashak» scholarship includes quota categories: engineering and technical workers, medical specialists, and candidates from rural areas. Quota category candidates can receive free language training and are not required to be admitted to a foreign university at the time of application. They can choose an educational institution after the scholarship is awarded.
The «500 visiting scholars» program was established following the Head of State's instructions to enhance the qualifications of Kazakhstani scientists in leading global research centers. The program allocates 500 scholarships annually.
The government covers costs for academic education, internships, flights, medical insurance, visa fees, and the purchase of educational materials, as well as providing a monthly stipend.
