VISIT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK

The University of Warwick is one of the most prestigious universities in the UK, ranked 69th in the QS World Ranking 2025 and 106th in the THE ranking. During a recent visit, Chairwoman of the Board of the Center for International Programs, Aliya Ospanova, held important meetings with university representatives to discuss cooperation conditions aimed at supporting Kazakh students.

Aliya Ospanova met with Lee Griffin (Director of Academic Affairs), Sally Smith (Director of International Cooperation and Strategic Development), Kate Walevska (Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment), and Kate Wiston (International Cooperation Manager). The meeting focused on topics such as offering direct tuition discounts for Bolashak scholarship holders, developing research internships, and providing invitations for students in preferential categories.

The visit placed special emphasis on the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), a unique academic division of the University of Warwick that is a leader in innovation and collaboration between science, technology, and business. Over more than 37 years, WMG has become a center for breakthrough technology development in key industries such as electrification and autonomous systems. The center actively collaborates with global companies, including Jaguar Land Rover, Network Rail, and Dyson, allowing students to intern and participate in cutting-edge projects.

WMG includes several research centers, such as:

  • National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC) — a leading center specializing in the development of technologies for electric vehicles and sustainable transportation. NAIC closely collaborates with partners such as Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Motors, providing engineering students with opportunities to intern at top automotive companies.

  • Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) — focused on advanced energy storage research. The center works with major partners, including Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover, developing innovative solutions for electric vehicles and sustainable technologies.

WMG offers full-time and part-time programs, including Degree Apprenticeships, where students combine study with work. The programs cover areas such as automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, and management in engineering.

The University of Warwick has been recognized as a "Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity Research" by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre and GCHQ. Among its innovative programs are unique courses such as the BSc in Digital Healthcare, preparing students for careers in healthcare and technology.

92% of the research conducted at the University of Warwick is internationally recognized as outstanding according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). Key areas include renewable energy, biomedical engineering, and urban studies, with Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) playing a major role as a leading center of advanced research in engineering technologies.

Currently, there are 19 Bolashak scholars studying at the University of Warwick. Since the beginning of the partnership, 422 Bolashak scholarship holders have graduated from the university.

The visit concluded with a meeting with current scholars, where Aliya Ospanova presented program updates and answered students' questions.
