Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program has been supporting the individual development of young, ambitious, and active citizens from Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia for 24 years. Since 2000, more than 1,000 graduates have participated in the program. Among the alumni are current government officials, parliamentarians, managers of major multinational corporations, local government leaders, and well-known public figures. Journalist Duisenali Alimakyn, who is studying «Journalism. Public Relations. Communication Management» in Washington, D.C., through the Bolashak program, has made a significant discovery. While gathering historical data about Kazakhstan in Washington's libraries and archives, he found more than 20 old books and paintings over the course of a month. «Kazakh Mozart» Rahat-Bi Abdysagin wrote an opera in honor of the 750th anniversary of one of the most famous kings of Scotland

On Saturday, February 17, 2024, the world premiere of the opera «The Bruce», composed by Rahat-Bi Abdyssagin, a doctoral candidate in the «Bolashak» program and talented composer-pianist, took place at Glasgow Cathedral. RETURNING TO REVIVE HIS VILLAGE

Erzhan Bitniev, a graduate of the University of Warwick in Coventry (UK), has returned to his hometown of Kairat and has been serving as the Akim of the Kairat rural district in the Ualikhanov district of North Kazakhstan for seven years. In the 2021 akim elections, he received 90% of the vote.

WORLD PREMIERE OF "THE BRUCE"

On February 17, 2024, the world premiere of the opera «The Bruce» by composer Rakhatt-Bi Abdyssagin will take place, celebrating the 750th anniversary of the birth of Scottish King Robert I Bruce.

For the first time in history, the opera by the Kazakh composer will feature opera singers and conductors from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with Rakhatt-Bi performing on the organ at every scene. The premiere will be held in four cities across the United Kingdom.

Rakhatt-Bi Abdyssagin is currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the Bolashak program.

WORLD PREMIERE OF THE OPERA «THE BRUCE» BY BOLASHAK SCHOLAR RAKHAT-BI ABDYSAGIN

For the first time in history, a Kazakhstan composer’s opera will be performed in four cities across the United Kingdom.

On February 17, 2024, the world premiere of the opera «The Bruce» by Rakhat-Bi Abdysagin, a doctoral student of the Bolashak program and a composer-pianist, will take place at Glasgow Cathedral. The opera will tell the story of Robert I Bruce, King of Scotland. It aims to be a musical bridge between the past and the future, revealing the personality of one of Scotland’s greatest monarchs and a champion of independence.
